Les Miserables

Tuesday night was a date night for me and boyfie, after work we had dinner at this Korean place that I really like, called Cafe C'ya. It's down an alleyway just off George St across from Event Cinemas. It's actually really popular and come dinner time there can be quite a queue, but because it was only about 5:30 we were the only customers they had.

We had pre-booked our tickets online for Event(their app is amazing plus you can pay via paypal, no need to whip out your credit card anymore to check the numbers) then whizzed through to the front of the queue and picked up the tickets. The queue was terrible as it was cheap Tuesday and the weather had gone over 40 degrees in the day - so obviously people wanted to hide out in the movies for awhile. Got into the cinema, it was a small one and we had side seats, I found that the side seats weren't angled so i had to kind of angle myself to the right to watch the movie properly, if that even makes sense. Whereas at Hoyts it's fine and I don't have to do that. Also, the air conditioning in that particular cinema was not working and heaps of people were fanning themselves with whatever they had. A couple of people even left, though I was quite comfortable in my breezy sundress.

Anyway, the movie itself was excellent and maybe that is the reason why I didn't feel the heat, I was really into it. I've seen some reviews where they say the movie they just sing the whole time. Well, what do you fucking expect from a musical???

I've seen the play as a child, my mother dragged me to it, she really liked dragging me to ballets and theatrical shows. I can say that this movie was wonderful and really lived up to what should be Les Miserables. I kept thinking to myself, it must be difficult to sing and cry and show that much emotion and just basically singing your heart out. So incredible.

What I also really loved was Cosette's giant puffy wedding dress. Makes me want one just like that. Though then again I love all the clothes in period pieces, hence I can't wait for Anna Karenina to be released.

Resolutions

It's now the 7th of January and it's been a week since the new year started and I've only started thinking about realistic new year's resolutions.

First a recap of last year's resolutions and how I fared I suppose.

For 2012 my new year's resolutions will be.

1. Go to the gym at least twice a week
This did not happen - especially in the last part of the year...
2. Save 10Gs
Also did not happen - not sure why haha.
3. Try more new places in Sydney
Yeah there were new places that cropped up - Mr Wongs, Palmer & Co, Otto, some really fun ones for sure.
4. Continue with buying quality not quantity
Well Forever 21 wasn't my go to last year which I'm surprised about. I think the theme of last year was more online shopping and more high street like Topshop and Zara, which I'm not really sure if it's good quality enough? Shed some light anyone?
5. Use up my lipbalms
Haha, I laugh. Definitely not. In fact there may even be more than before.
6. Make more new friends
New work friends now that I have been at this company for a year. Yay.
7. See my family more often
Actually got to see them for Christmas so I was plenty happy about that as I normally never take Christmas off.
8. Get all my Temple Run and Tiny Tower objectives!
Lolz, just when I thought I was close, they did an update with a ton more objectives. Then I abandoned the game. Aw. :(

This year I want to:

1. Take a holiday with my friends. Which if everything works out to plan is gonna be an awesome one in Thailand later this year.

2. Get a small tattoo. We're talking minuscule here, nothing to go crazy about.

3. Finish at least one bottle of perfume in my cabinet. Like seriously I'm running out of space.

4. Beat my own time at JP Morgan this year, as most likely I will still be away for City 2 Surf this year.

5. Do well at work and be happy in life.

6. Collect moments not things.

I guess the theme this year is to be realistic, there are no resolutions that I can't do, and nothing too crazy like gymming all the time, I'll still go but only when I feel like it. I don't want to say stuff like eat healthy because I'm already doing that. All I have for lunches these days are salads and sugary things have been cut right back.

2012 Recap

So much has happened over the last year and I kind of wanted to put pen to paper so I can look back and appreciate all the things that I've done / accomplished in the year.

Events:
1. Stereosonic - my first time ever and in Sydney, enjoyed such great weather and some really good music.

2. City 2 Surf - the second time around, 14 km in 96 minutes, which is pretty decent effort in comparison to my 114 minutes the previous year.

3. JP Morgan run - for the first time with my company. Ran by myself but really great fun and wonderful views in the park.

4. My cousin's wedding - being a proper bridesmaid for the first time in Jakarta, doled out a speech which I thought was not bad.

5. Nick's Graduation - proud. What more can I say?

Visits:
1. My friend from my Indonesian primary school came to visit me and we enjoyed a catch up together followed by Max Brenner.

2. Yvonne, one of my bestest Myer friends also came to visit, took her and boyfie out to Mad Pizza and Gelato. :)

3. Let's not forget bestie bestest Shirley and Alan who I would love to see more often but had the privilege of seeing quite a few times this year.

Work:
1. Partners dinner - smashed some bowling (which I'm still terrible at, but improving slightly) and then some steak at Hurricane's with work peeps and boyfie.

2. Mornington Peninsula - horseriding and wine drinking and big big bonfires.

3. Boss' 50th lunch - such an awesome day that it had to be mentioned. Good food and good banter.

Holidays:
1. Melbourne - with Nick, also his idea which is crazy spontaneous and not like him at all. Enjoyed some really great eats.

2. Hong Kong - post cousin's wedding, good times there. Ocean Park was a highlight. The amount of walking we did plus muggy weather made me slightly want to shoot myself.

3. Back to Perth for Christmas - definitely enjoyed myself, 40 degree heat all week long meant swimming and beaching with my bestest friends.

So all in all a really good year, I'm looking forward to 2013 being just as memorable if not even better. I hope you all have resolutions made. I'm still mulling it over. :)
